Sometimes
you stumble across things that truly speak to your heart and this poem is just
one of those things. As Barbara said,
nursing “binds” to your very soul and once it’s a part of you, it never lets
you go. Sure, we might transition into
different roles in our careers or into new stages of life, but the precious experience
of caring for people when they needed us most is what knits us all together. We have had the privilege of taking care of
people at their most vulnerable times. We have had the joy of having them impact our
lives, so that we’ll never be the same. Once
a nurse, always a nurse.
